Each year, the county has an outside certified public accountant examine its financial statements as required by state and federal law. An audit provides reasonable assurance whether the financial statements are free of mistakes and are fairly presented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and wide-ranging reporting standards set by the Government Accounting Standards Board.
